A small independent shop for objects with enough character to hold their own.

Interesting Object is an independent shop for art, ceramics, glass, metalwork, textiles and other distinctive objects for interiors. We buy across periods, countries and categories. What connects them is judgement: each object needs presence, individuality and a reason to keep looking.

What we look for

The thing itself.

A recognised maker can matter, but it is not the entry requirement. We look at form, material, colour, proportion, surface, construction, wit and strangeness. A small object can have as much presence as a large one.

Where we look

Wherever it turns up.

Auctions, makers’ studios, dealers, markets, design shops and places that do not fit neatly into any of those categories. The source can change completely from one object to the next.

The selection is deliberate.

The aim is not to make everything look as though it came from the same room. It is to build a collection where very different things still feel chosen by the same eye.

Small by design. The collection will grow, but the edit should remain visible.

Objects are researched, described and photographed as the things they actually are. Where a maker, date or attribution is uncertain, we say so.

New objects when we find them.

Occasional emails when new objects arrive.
